Young Jolus of Remmon has the gift of sight, though he wants nothing more than to tend his father’s farm and raise a family with the girl he loves. But his jealous brother, Carpae, goes out of his way to demean and humiliate Jolus, even taking the girl he loves as his wife. When the Shillimite Empire threatens, Carpae lures Jolus into the hills and beats him, leaving him for dead in the path of the invading Army. Jolus is taken into slavery and forced to work in the quarries, at the mercy of cruel task masters that discover his gift and force him to misuse it.
Eventually Jolus finds himself in the palace helping the king’s daughter as she recovers from a serious illness. But even here he can’t escape his destiny. As he struggles to accept that path that God has laid out for him, he discovers that he hasn’t yet faced his biggest challenge: that of forgiving the brother that betrayed him.
